Salesforce upcoming connected app restrictions

Salesforce is updating the way Connected Apps work to give administrators more control and improve security. Beginning September, 2025, Salesforce might block some users from using uninstalled Connected Apps.

That means Copado Essentials, as well as other applications using Salesforce Connected Apps, might stop working unless you take action to install the connected app. For more details, please review Salesforce’s official announcement here: Salesforce Help Article

Impact to your Copado Essentials environment

Without action, the new Salesforce restriction may block you from logging in to Essentials, authorizing org connections, and running deployments or CI jobs.

Recommended Actions

To ensure all Copado Essentials features continue functioning as expected after these changes, we recommend installing the Copado Essentials connected app (ClickDeploy) in your org by following the steps below.

Installing a connected app does not add any packages to your org. It simply registers the connected app with your org, enabling improved access control.

Step by Step Guide

  1. Navigate to Salesforce Setup, use the Quick Find to search for OAuth.

  2. Select Connected Apps OAuth Usage.

  3. Locate the Copado Essentials app listed as ClickDeploy. Click Install button next to the app

  4. Repeat the steps above in every Salesforce Environment (Including Sandboxes, and Production Orgs)

Note: Only System Administrators can install Connected Apps. If you don’t see the Install option, contact your Salesforce Administrator.

Note: Alternatively, if you are unable locate the connected app (ClickDeploy.io) in the OAuth Usage screen above, the app can be installed using this direct connected app install URL.

Deadline & Impact of No Action

You need to complete the installation before September 1, 2025. If not, Copado operations such as deployments, authentication, and pipeline management may stop working.
